Richard Sherman, CB

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way. As soon as it became official that cornerback, Richard Sherman, was a member of the San Francisco 49ers, he received a spot on this list.

For the past six seasons, Sherman has been among the best cornerbacks in the league. For a while it was unanimously accepted that he was even the very best at this position. That title has since moved on to different, younger players.

Sherman is no longer the consensus best in the league, but he is still in the very top tier of defensive backs. Sherman’s 2017 season was cut short due to a serious achilles injury. This injury , combined with the fact that he is not getting any younger, has caused many to doubt if he will ever be the player he once was.

The thing is, even if he never returns to the form of being one of the best defensive players in the league, he can still help the 49ers tremendously. Even if he just an above average, borderline pro bowl player, he will still be the player the team needs to fortify the secondary. But in all likelihood, he will be even better than that.

It would not be a wise decision to write off Richard Sherman just yet, as he still has several years of high level football ahead of him. Look forward to seeing Sherman prove all of his doubters wrong in San Francisco this year.
