The San Francisco 49ers have a ton of work to do this offseason to improve this squad. They finished the 2024 season with a 6-11 record and missed out on the playoffs.
With the offseason set to kick into a different gear, Deebo Samuel's trade request has been made public. His projected trade value has been released and it won't excite 49er fans.
The buck didn't stop there and the latest report explains why the 49ers are upset with Samuel. Tim Kawakami of the SF Standard jumped on the "Willard and Dibs" podcast and discussed what's been going on behind the scenes.
Kawakami said, "I've heard for a few weeks now that the 49ers were unhappy with Deebo's weight at the end of the season." He went on to add, "Now, he got hurt. Some of this happens, but they were not happy. We saw it. He did not have the explosion. He was not bouncing off of people. He was not running through a defense like he'd done at least two, three years ago."

49ers News: San Francisco Was Annoyed With Deebo Samuel
The development isn't what 49ers fans want to hear. When watching Samuel play in 2024, he didn't appear to be the same player.
He recorded 51 receptions for 670 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. The South Carolina product was leaned on when Brandon Aiyuk went down with a torn ACL but he didn't answer the call.
Samuel was down at Super Bowl week and a picture surfaced with him in an A.J. Brown jersey. He looked a bit overweight, sparking more frustration among fans. The picture in combination with this report isn't the news San Francisco needs.

The 49ers will have their work cut out for them as they attempt to deal Samuel, who's coming off a down year.
