The San Francisco 49ers have experienced a lot of turnover this offseason already. This team has lost countless contributors in free agency, which is going to take some time to adjust.

GM John Lynch doesn't seem to be worried much though, as he gave the fans some hope. He expressed the 49ers have a lot of draft picks and they have a plan going into the 2025 NFL Draft. They have 11 total picks and are ready to use this collection to bring in more talent.

While that's a major point of the offseason, an extension for QB Brock Purdy is something that is on the 49ers' plate, but Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is playing a big part in negotiations.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Thursday that Purdy is looking to be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league.

Garafolo added, "I don't see this getting done until the 49ers and Brock Purdy agree on a number close to Dak Prescott, not all the way there but close to Prescott. Purdy says that's fair but also still gives the team and John Lynch the opportunity to do things elsewhere on the roster."

Dak Prescott’s Deal Will Have an Impact on Brock Purdy’s Negotiations

Last September, Prescott agreed to a four-year, $240 million extension, making him the highest-paid QB in the league, making $60 million annually.

Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Jordan Love, and Trevor Lawrence are all tied for second in the NFL, making $55 million a year. It sounds like Purdy will look to either tie or eclipse this number on his extension.

The Iowa State product has gone from being Mr. Irrelevant to leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl. In 40 games (36 starts), Purdy has completed 67.5% of his passes for 9,518 passing yards with 64 passing touchdowns and 27 interceptions.

Purdy has shown the ability to run Kyle Shanahan's offense with ease and he's looking to cash in. Whenever QBs get paid, they look at other deals around the league as a jumping-off point. That seems to be the case with Purdy using Prescott's deal as a reference point in negotiations. Whether or not the 49ers want to come close to the number remains to be seen but it's clear Purdy wants to become one of the highest-paid QBs in the league this offseason.
