The San Francisco 49ers and starting quarterback Brock Purdy have finally come to terms on a new contract that will keep the former seventh-round pick in the Bay Area for the foreseeable future.

After years of benefitting from having the most team-friendly deal in the entire league for a starting quarterback, Purdy cashed in on Friday, as Tom Pelissero reports the two sides have agreed to a five-year, $265 million extension that will run through the 2030 season.

Purdy won't have to wait very long to make up for the time he was severely underpaid, as he will receive over $165 million over the first three years of this extension and $181 million in guaranteed money over the lifetime of the deal.

Compared to his career earnings to date -- $2,885,346 -- that is a massive bump in pay that Purdy earned once the opportunity to play presented itself. At the same time, this is a solid deal from San Francisco's perspective. In terms of average annual value of $53 million, Purdy's deal places him in the same tier as Tua Tagovailoa and Jared Goff.

With Purdy's new deal done and out of the way, he can now get back to focusing on the task at hand, leading the 49ers offense back to the postseason. The former Iowa State Cyclones standout has been putting the work in throughout the offseason to prepare himself to take the field and his coaches are ready to get to work with their franchise quarterback.

"Brock's been great," Klint Kubiak said. “Brock has almost three full seasons, like two-and-a-half seasons of tape now where he can really look at his (video) cutups and look at his games over that time period.

“(He can) study himself and see where he has gotten better, where he needs to continue to get better. He’s a great student of himself.”

San Francisco will now welcome Purdy back to the fold later this month when the team reconvenes for OTAs on May 27.
