The San Francisco 49ers have had an eventful offseason. After missing the playoffs last season, the 49ers have made a ton of changes along the roster. Countless players have left in free agency while trading WR Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders.

The noise around the team hasn't stopped, as Brandon Aiyuk's name has been floated in trade talks. Nothing has come to fruition yet, but this could be a big week on that front.

On April 1, his 2025 salary ($22.855 million) and his 2026 salary ($24.935 million) become fully guaranteed per Spotrac.

Brandon Aiyuk’s Salaries for Next Two Seasons Become Guaranteed on April 1

Last August, Aiyuk and the 49ers agreed on a four-year, $120 million extension that featured $76 million guaranteed. In the first year of that deal, Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL. He's now focused on rehabbing and getting back on the field but there's no guarantee that he'll be on the team in 2025 and beyond.

If the 49ers really want to trade Aiyuk, this week is crucial. With his salaries for the 2025 and 2026 seasons slated to become fully guaranteed in the next couple of days, it's critical that the 49ers get someone to pony up an offer.

While it would be risky for San Francisco to move on from both Aiyuk and Samuel in the same offseason, they seem to be having some buyer's remorse regarding Aiyuk. He's currently tied for the seventh-highest-paid WR in the NFL with Miami's Tyreek Hill.

The 49ers were paying for what Aiyuk could become, but things got off to a bad start in 2024 with the injury. In five NFL seasons, the 27-year-old has recorded 294 catches for 4,305 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns. He's only gone over 1,000 yards twice.

While the 49ers may end up keeping Aiyuk, this week may decide if they do want to move from him.
