The San Francisco 49ers will look a bit different in 2025. Considering they traded WR Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders for a fifth-round pick in March and Brandon Aiyuk is still rehabbing his knee after tearing his ACL, the receiver room isn't what 49ers fans are used to.

At this point in the offseason, the options are limited, but the 49ers had interest in WR Gabe Davis after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He came in for a visit on Monday and continues to take trips around the country.

He's slated to meet with the New York Giants on Wednesday, and there's a good chance he doesn't leave without a deal. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, momentum is building towards Davis landing in New York, which would be a reunion for Davis, Brian Daboll, and Joe Schoen.

These guys crossed paths in Buffalo for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Davis was effective in both campaigns under Daboll, who was the offensive coordinator.

He's currently the head coach for the Giants and is in a make-or-break season, so adding a playmaker like Davis, with whom he has familiarity, makes sense. Jacksonville shockingly released Davis just one year after inking a three-year, $39 million deal.

In his career, he has developed into a big-play threat. In 74 career games, Davis has logged 183 receptions for 2,969 receiving yards, 29 touchdowns, and 16.2 yards per reception.

He would be a good fit in the 49ers offense, especially since Demarcus Robinson will also have to serve a three-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

The addition of Davis would give the 49ers another deep threat playmaker, but there's a good shot that he doesn't make it out of New York.
