Every offseason, we see several veterans hang up their cleats and retire from the NFL. We saw a couple of veterans call it quits last week, including former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Chris Conley.
Conley, who is only 32 years old, spent two years with the 49ers and 10 overall in the NFL, but wants to pursue his next dream in filmmaking. However, Conley wasn’t the first former 49er to retire this offseason.
Veteran offensive lineman Jon Feliciano, who was on the 49ers’ 2023 team that went to the Super Bowl, announced his retirement in February. However, the veteran lineman threw in a caveat to the 49ers and Buffalo Bills that he would be ready for a playoff run in December if they needed him.
Months later, after hanging up the cleats, it seems like the ex-49ers lineman is not feeling the retirement thing.
On Monday afternoon, Feliciano posted on Twitter, “Retirement currently isn’t as fun as I thought it would be.”

It’s not surprising to see the veteran lineman post that on social media, as he’s been used to a routine for nine seasons. At this time of the year, the 33-year-old Feliciano would be at the team facility, working out and going through OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
Feliciano didn’t play last season after appearing in 16 games and making seven starts with the 49ers in 2023. The veteran offensive lineman didn’t play badly with the 49ers, as PFF graded him as their ninth-best interior lineman from the 2023 campaign.
Feliciano had an overall grade of 79.8, including an 85.6 overall grade when he suited up at left guard. He also played some right guard for San Francisco during that season.
Heading into this season, the 49ers seem to be set at the guard spots with Ben Bartch on the left side, while Dominick Puni is on the right side. However, if the 49ers were to suffer an injury late in the season, it would be interesting to see if Feliciano would consider coming out of retirement for a playoff run.
