The NFL world has pivoted its focus onto OTAs and mandatory minicamps before returning for training camp in July.
The San Francisco 49ers have had an eventful offseason that saw them part ways with some long-time players. They decided to extend both Brock Purdy and George Kittle over the last few weeks and are ready to bounce back in 2025.
While minicamp runs from June 10 to June 11, a former player officially stepped away from the game on Saturday. Receiver Chris Conley has decided to retire, according to his agent Jonathan Perzley. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added that Conley is heading back to the University of Georgia to pursue his dreams of being a filmmaker.
Veteran NFL WR Chris Conley, who most recently played for the #49ers, has decided to retire after 10 seasons to follow his dream, his agent Jonathan Perzley of @SPORTSTARSNYC said.

Former 49ers WR Chris Conley Retires
Conley first signed with San Francisco in 2023. He had a couple of stints on the practice squad and active roster over the last two seasons. In 23 games with the 49ers, he had nine catches for 145 yards and 16.1 yards per reception.
He entered the league as a third-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2015 NFL draft. The 32-year-old spent four seasons with the Chiefs before joining the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, and Tennessee Titans.
Over 10 seasons (132 games), Conley had 226 catches (383 targets) for 2,998 receiving yards, 15 touchdowns, and 13.3 yards per reception.
He was always a nice depth piece for these teams, and it allowed him to have a decade-long career.
He's ready to do something else, and going back to school to become a filmmaker is unique and cool. He's focused on football for the majority of his life, and now he can do something else that brings him joy.
Even though he spent a short time with the 49ers, fans should wish him the best as he heads into the next chapter of his life.
