The San Francisco 49ers have been dealing with drama around their WRs for the last two offseasons. Last year, they were in a contract dispute with Brandon Aiyuk before finally agreeing to terms on a new contract.
Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel was shipped to the Washington Commanders in March, and Jauan Jennings decided to give the 49ers an ultimatum. On Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Jennings wants a new deal or get traded if nothing is agreed to.
That led to multiple teams reaching out to inquire about Jennings, but they were shut down by San Francisco.
Schetfer said on Tuesday, "Several teams have already inquired about Jauan Jennings availability, but the 49ers said they have no desire in trading the wide receiver.”

49ers Turns Teams Away for Jauan Jennings Trade
This shouldn't be a surprise considering the state of the 49ers' WR corps. Aiyuk is still rehabbing from a major knee injury and won't be ready for the start of training camp. Meanwhile, Ricky Pearsall suffered a hamstring injury, and those injuries are tricky.
Moving on from Jennings wouldn't be the best decision, especially with him coming off a career year. In 2024, the Tennessee product logged career-highs in catches (77), receiving yards (975), and receiving touchdowns (6).
He certainly built a good rapport with Brock Purdy, which is huge with him being their franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. Another underrated factor in why the 49ers don't want to move on is that Jennings is a good run blocker and is entering his fifth year of playing in this scheme.
This offense is all about timing, and Jennings is a player that Kyle Shanahan can rely on. His $7.5 million cap hit is low for quality WRs. There are 33 wide receivers in the league who make at least $10 million.
San Francisco may need to offer Jennings a short-term extension to keep him happy and engaged. Whether or not they get something done remains to be seen, but it looks like Jennings won't be getting moved. It'll only create another problem for the 49ers, and that's something they can't afford right now.
