The San Francisco 49ers have rookies reporting for training camp at SAP Performance Facility on July 15, with veterans joining them on July 22.
The pressure will be on to bounce back for the 2025 campaign, but before players are even back in the building, they are being faced with new dilemmas around a wide receiver.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, WR Jauan Jennings is asking for either a new deal or wants to be traded ahead of the new season. He was extended prior to the 2024 season and is slated to make $7.5 million, yet that number isn't high enough for him.

Last May, Jennings and San Francisco agreed on a two-year deal that is worth up to $15.4 million with $10.5 million guaranteed. In a year that Deebo Samuel took a step back statistically and Brandon Aiyuk went down with a season-ending knee injury, Jennings stepped up.
Over 15 games, Jennings posted career-highs in targets (113), catches (77), receiving yards (975), and touchdowns (6). The Tennessee product found a way to be effective in different parts of the field and believes his $4.25 million cap hit per Spotrac in 2025 is too low.
33 wide receivers in the league make at least $10 million, and Jennings certainly believes he's getting underpaid. Considering that Aiyuk won't be ready for the start of training camp, and Pearsall is nursing a hamstring injury that he suffered in OTA.
That puts Jennings in the WR1 role entering camp, but that doesn't mean San Francisco wants to hand out another deal. They handed out massive extensions to Brock Purdy, Fred Warner, and George Kittle.
The 49ers may not be looking to do that again with Jennings. He's already 28 years old and went over 416 yards for the first time in 2024. San Francisco has already gone through some drama at the receiver position when they shipped away Deebo Samuel.
Now Jennings is next at the plate, but this isn't what 49er fans want to see right before camp opens up. It adds an unnecessary distraction to the team when it's not needed.
