The San Francisco 49ers have finally turned the page on the 2025 NFL Draft but that doesn't mean they are done adding players to this roster. After drafting 11 players, they have turned their attention over to the UDFA market to add more playmakers.
The 49ers have already signed at least six undrafted free agents, but one of those additions chose San Francisco over the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Baltimore Ravens. That player is cornerback Jakob Robinson out of BYU.

Jakob Robinson Picked 49ers Over Two Contenders
The 49ers made an emphasis on adding to the defensive side of the ball in the NFL Draft. With Robert Saleh back in the building, GM John Lynch is giving him a ton of new pieces to work with.
Robinson picking the 49ers means he likes his chances of sticking on the roster while also liking the defensive system San Francisco runs.
He spent five years in college with Utah State and BYU. Over the last four seasons with the Cougars, he had 190 total tackles, 21 pass deflections, nine TFLs, and 11 interceptions. Robinson is a willing tackler and has the versatility to play in the slot and on the outside.
Deommodore Lenoir and Renardo Green are the two locks to start in the secondary. Upton Stout was drafted in the third round, so he may have the inside track to getting playing time earlier since he was a Top 100 pick. Outside of that, Robinson will have a clear pathway to carving out a spot on this roster.
He will get his first opportunity to impress the coaching staff in the rookie minicamp sometime in May. The battle in the cornerback room will be an interesting storyline this summer, and Robinson is hoping to make some noise in the area.
