Why the 49ers should pass on Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo for Jordan Love
By Allen Settle
What does San Francisco do next?
The Super Bowl runner ups now have a gaping hole on their roster. Their absolute top priority becomes addressing the now vacant quarterback position. Thankfully, there are many ways to do so.
The 2020 NFL quarterback free agency class is one of the deepest in history. Brady, Philip Rivers, Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Dak Prescott, Marcus Mariota, and Ryan Tannehill are all available to the highest bidder.
However, despite the unusual depth at the position the 49ers’ best bet will be the 2020 NFL Draft.

Prediction
San Francisco will capitalize on a sliding Jordan Love. Some mock drafts have Love being taken as early as the fifth overall pick.
However, the NFL has a history of quarterbacks who unexpectedly fall on draft day. Love profiles as one of these types of players. Walter Football has insisted that some teams have recently placed a 4th-5th round grade on the quarterback.
Other credible analysts have him going in the 2nd-3rd round range.
There is always a chance that a team reaches for Love in the early-to-mid first round. However, with players like Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, and Justin Herbert all projected as first-round locks, there are safer options for teams desperate for a young passer.
If Love is taken, the 49ers always have the option of either looking to free agency, or trading down to target a player like Jake Fromm, Jacob Eason, or Jalen Hurts.
