Sacramento Kings: Ranking the four free agent additions in order of value
By Justin Fried
2. Richaun Holmes
Sacramento’s final free agent signing may have also been their best pure value move — at least in terms of production/money. Former Philadelphia 76ers draft pick Richaun Holmes was signed to be the team’s fifth big man in their rotation and he brings with him a ton of promise.
Holmes spent last season playing with the Phoenix Suns and he put together very respectable numbers. The 25-year-old averaged 8.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks all in just 16.9 minutes per game. He combined that with an excellent 60.8% shooting percentage from the floor.

The Kings signed Holmes to a cheap two-year, $10 million contract which is fairly inexpensive given his age and prior production. It’s very surprising that Holmes didn’t have more of a market than he did but the Kings were wise to take full advantage of it.
Especially given his play while facing Sacramento last season.
Holmes is an average defender but his offensive game holds a lot of promise. On top of that, the Bowling Green product is a high-energy, high-motor player who oftentimes served as a key spark plug for the Suns last season.
Expect Holmes to challenge Harry Giles and Nemanja Bjelica for minutes next season as he works off the bench — likely as a part of the regular rotation.
From a pure value standpoint, it’s hard to find a better addition this offseason than Holmes.
