San Francisco 49ers: Top 5 AAF players the team should target
By Justin Fried
2. Damontre Moore, EDGE
Again, the 49ers need help along the edge but unlike the aforementioned Schult, Damontre Moore likely has a much higher NFL ceiling.
Moore was originally drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, but was a projected top-ten draft pick before a very poor combine performance plummeted his draft stock. Still, Moore managed to record 9.5 sacks between 2014 and 2015 but off-field issues kept him from reaching his full potential.

The Texas A&M product was able to strut his stuff in the AAF, however, as he tallied seven sacks in eight games to go along with a league-leading 25 quarterback hits. He earned a stellar 90.8 grade from Pro Football Focus solidifying his status as one of the best edge defenders in the entire AAF.
The 49ers could definitely do much worse than taking a chance on the talented, but previously troubled Moore. Unlike Schult, Moore could offer a future as a legitimate NFL starter given his athletic profile and ideal size.
At the very least, there’s nothing wrong with bringing in a high-upside player like Moore to see what he could provide.
*Editor’s Note: It was later reported by Adam Schefter that Moore had officially signed with the 49ers*
