The San Francisco 49ers square off with the Kansas City Chiefs in a week three battle – let’s take a look at some keys to victory.

Sure, on paper, it looks like a mismatch of epic proportions. When the San Francisco 49ers square off with the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend, most people are expecting to see a beatdown the likes of a vintage Mike Tyson versus – well – everybody.

Admittedly, on paper, it looks like a David vs. Goliath matchup. The Chiefs swagger into the matchup 2-0, with one of the most electric offenses in the game, and a head of steam. Scoring 40 points a game, this Chiefs team looks like a juggernaut.

And given that this is their home opener, after starting the season with two on the road, you know they’re going to want to give the KC fans something special to cheer about.

More from San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers, so far in 2018, have looked inconsistent. They’ve been great in stretches, and downright awful in others. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo best exemplifies it with his dreadful three-interception performance against the Vikings to open the season.

But, he followed that up with a rock solid showing against the Lions last week – though, the argument can be made, that it was only the Lions.

Still, the 49ers are 1-1 on the year, and seemingly have some momentum built up after escaping with a win last week. Now, they hit the road for a game that literally almost nobody believes they can win. The oddsmakers have the Chiefs as nearly a touchdown favorite in this game, and most pundits seem to think the 49ers are going to get absolutely torched by this white-hot offense.

And, let’s be honest, the possibility does exist that Kansas City’s offense will leave the 49ers in a pile of ash by the time the game ends. But, that doesn’t mean we should just write it off as a loss just yet. There is most definitely a path to victory for San Francisco.

But, they’re going to have to play an almost perfect game to pull it off.

The 49ers can’t afford any missteps against a Chiefs offense that can score from anywhere on the field, at any time. And San Francisco most definitely has some holes that this Chiefs team can exploit if they’re not careful.

The good news, is they’re getting some players back on the field, which should help the cause. It very well could help change the entire complexion of the game, and give San Francisco a better chance of coming out of it with a win.

It won’t be easy, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility. So, what’s it going to take? Let’s take a look at some keys that could help lead the 49ers to a win in Kansas City…
