San Francisco 49ers Roundtable: Final seven-round mock draft
By Kevin Saito
Isaac’s Projection: Round Four (pick 128): Martinas Rankin (G – Mississippi State)
After going back to back defensive players in the third round, it is time to make another effort to protect Jimmy Garoppolo in the fourth round. This protection can come in the form of guard out of Mississippi State, Martinas Rankins.
Rankins is a guard by nature but has the versatility to play other offensive line positions in the NFL. This is a valuable type of player to have on your line in case someone goes out with an injury and pieces need to be moved around. He will be an absolute steal in the fourth round for whatever team selects him.

Kevin’s Projection: Round Four (pick 128): Jessie Bates (S – Wake Forest)
With Jaquiski Tartt and Jimmie Ward really the only two viable options at safety, the 49ers would do well to add a little bit of depth to the position.
Bates, six-foot-one, 200 pounds, had a solid combine and left many scouts impressed. He’s got 4.5 speed, has great instincts, terrific length, and good fluidity in his movements. He’s fast in transition, is a willing tackler, and has an instinctive nose for the ball.
He has but two years of actual experience on the field and comes with a learning curve. But, with some seasoning and polish, Bates could be a solid addition to San Francisco’s defensive backfield.
