Miami Heat for Justise Winslow + Josh Richardson

Since LeBron James’ departure, the Miami Heat have been trying desperately to land a new star who can help put them back on the top of the Eastern Conference.

Too strong to tank, too weak to compete with the best four teams in the East. And after last season, the Heat must take a strong decision. Who can say what the real value of this team is?

Is it the injured roster that was on the bottom pf the conference until the All-Star Game? Or is it the group who played capably, coming withine one win of making the playoffs?

And what is the real value of Dion Waiters, the real emotional balance of this team? Can a contender count on him? All these questions could bring the President Pat Riley to search out some opportunities that could improve the team.

And why not Klay Thompson, who, alongside Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside (plus Dion Waiters from the bench) could be the definitive reset this team needs?

The players who could make a deal interesting for the Warriors could be Justise Winslow (for the same reasons of Ingram and Tatum in previous trade ideas) and Josh Richardson, who has just signed a new contract and could share minutes with McCaw instead of giving all the responsibility to the young Warrior.

As with any trade scenario, there are some cons to a deal. In fact, with only one year remaining on his current deal, how can Miami be sure Thompson decides to extend his contract with them?

And would the Warriors be ready to renounce  a superstar for two role players who are good, but not at the same level Thompson is at? Wouldn’t it be better at that point keep Thompson until his deal expires and see if it’s possible to extend him? And if not, see what free agency offers?
