FanSided’s Fandom 250: Could the Golden State Warriors Have the Best Fanbase?
FanSided is naming the best fanbases in the world, and the Golden State Warriors are nominees! Could they be the number one fanbase?
FanSided has started to introduce nominees for their first ever “Fandom 250” list, a ranking celebrating the best fanbases in sports, entertainment, among other things. Their second round of nominees includes a local team, the Golden State Warriors.
The Warriors have given their fans a lot to cheer about in recent years. They were NBA champions just two years ago. They won 73 games last year. Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green (and now Kevin Durant!) have been putting on a show for fans with one of the most exciting brands of basketball you can find anywhere.
But even during the lean years, the Warriors’ faithful were always there for the team. The Warriors have been in the top half of attendance in the NBA every season since the 2009-2010 season. They haven’t placed in the bottom third in attendance since the 2004-2005 season. The Warriors started this season with 175 consecutive sellouts at home.
And it’s not just that the fans fill Oracle Arena. Those fans are LOUD. It’s named nicknamed “Roaracle” for a reason.
Along with the Warriors, the following fanbases were on the second list of nominees:
- Cleveland Cavaliers
- Taylor Swift
- Katy Perry
- Garth Brooks
- Carrie Underwood
- Blake Shelton
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Boston Celtics
- New York Knicks
If you’re not a Warriors’ fan, or a fan of the other nine nominees, fret not! FanSided will continue to unveil more nominees through the month of November, eventually culminating in the final rankings being released on December 6th. On December 6th, we’ll find out where the Warriors are ranked, and what other fanbases find their names on the list.
