#7: Ty Blach – Blach, who has moved up every single season he’s pitched in the Giants’ farm system, is now pitching for Triple-A Sacramento in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.
Blach is currently 1-2 with a 4.56 ERA in 23.2 innings of work. Although he has allowed 29 hits in 23.2 innings, he does have 14 strikeouts with no walks allowed.
The biggest back breaker to Blach’s stats this season have been the three home runs he’s allowed. Although it is a little excusable given that the stadiums in the PCL are much smaller compared to most of the league’s stadiums, Blach has still had some issues leaving his pitches up in the strike zone.
The Giants feel that Blach is the closest to being major league ready of all of their pitching prospects though. So, if the situation arose where San Francisco needed a starting pitcher right away, Blach would be the guy they call upon.
Blach also has a good shot at making the 2016 Giants’ roster given that Tim Lincecum, Tim Hudson, and Ryan Vogelsong are all free agents at the end of this 2015 season.
