Friday, March 20th – Hornets 91 @ Kings 101
The Kings got off to a blazing start, even without Cousins once again, putting up 29 and 28 points in the first two quarters. The Kings played efficiently down the stretch, shooting 48 percent in the game and maintaining a double-digit lead for a good portion of the second half. They ultimately won 101-91.
Gay looked smooth and in command of the team, putting up 33 points and nine rebounds. The Kings committed 21 turnovers, a number that would make a junior high coach cringe, but thankfully, they crashed the boards and out-rebounded the Hornets by double digits to compensate. Reggie Evans proved once more how dominant of a rebounder he is, collecting 16 of his own.

This was an exciting game to watch, and not just because Derrick Williams absolutely embarrassed Bismack Biyombo with a second-half slam that was picked as number one on SportsCenter’s top weekend plays.
It was exciting simply because fans could see the roots of an actual offensive and defensive scheme taking shape, as opposed to simply hoping Gay and/or Cousins would win the game for the team, as they so often have had to do this season.
"“We talked this morning about how this was going to be an intense game,” coach George Karl stated following the victory. “We beat them a couple of weeks ago, (but) they are still in the playoff hunt, and they are out on the road trying to find a win. We played hard and won a game with our defense.”"
Next, the Kings were scheduled to take on the Wizards for the second time in a little over a week, this time back in Sacramento.
