This is such a hard question to answer during the offseason before the 2015 season, given the unknowns about the 2015 roster and the complete unknowns about the 2016 roster.
I believe the every-other-year trend is partially coincidental, but it also partially makes sense. A less successful season after winning the World Series can be explained by many factors including fatigue (mostly) and injuries (possibly resulting from fatigue). The Giants saw this with Buster Posey‘s horrendous injury in 2011, and they also saw this with Angel Pagan‘s injures in 2013.

These could partially explain the every-other-year trend, but coincidence is also probably somewhat of a factor. I’m not a huge believer in coincidence, but it must be a little part of the trend, given that we haven’t seen many or any other teams have this same kind of pattern.
With that being said, I believe that this trend could possibly continue. I’m not saying the Giants won’t win the World Series in 2015, but I think it could be more possible in 2016, just because of the possibility of fatigue and/or injuries in 2015 and given the uncertainty for the rest of this current offseason.
However, it would be nice to have the Giants stop the trend and win the World Series in 2015. Why wait another year when we could celebrate again in 2015?
As I’ve said, it’s so hard to predict given the high level of uncertainty in many areas, but it’d be great if the Giants could win another World Series in the near future, no matter what year it is.
