49ers Hand Raiders Their Second Win of Season; Fall to 7-6
By David Ochoa
The 49ers traveled across the bay to play geographical their rivals, the Oakland Raiders. The 49ers had been struggling lately, so theoretically, the 1-11 Raiders were the perfect opponent to get back on track. Unfortunately for the 49ers that didn’t happen. And as the 49ers fall to the Raiders, they most likely fall out of the playoffs as well. The 49ers move to 7-6 after they lose to the Raiders by a score of 24-13.

The game couldn’t have started off worse, as Colin Kaepernick threw an interception on the first play from scrimmage. This was a bad omen, as the 49ers failed to once again get any rhythm on offense. The lowly Raiders, who were predicted to go 0-16 a few weeks ago, unquestionably manhandled the 49ers.
Kaepernick and the offense once again failed to get anything going, and were only able to put up 13 points of offense. The 49ers failed to put up 20 points of offense for the sixth time in seven games. Kaepernick finished the game with an all too familiar stat line of less than 200 yards (174) and more interceptions (2) than touchdowns (1).

On the other side, Derek Carr absolutely lit up the 49ers’ defense. The rookie QB embarrassed the 49ers by going 22/28 with 254 yards and three touchdowns. Unfortunately for the defense, even if they would’ve stopped the Raiders’ offense, their own offense probably would have left them out to dry regardless.
Frank Gore had a decent game by getting 63 yards on 12 carries, but it obviously wasn’t enough to help the all but sunken 49ers.
To add injury in insult, the 49ers had three starters go down with injuries. Chris Culliver, Mike Iupati, and Marcus Martin all suffered injuries and had to leave the game.
With this loss, the Raiders gain the bragging rights over the 49ers until the next time they meet again.
