After losing out on Sandoval, the Giants have expressed interest in former Padre and Yankee third baseman Chase Headley. Headley’s value increased once Sandoval signed with the Red Sox, so any team looking for a third basemen has likely been in contact with Headley’s agent by now.

The Giants know what they would get with Headley, since they’ve played against him when he was on the Padres from 2007 to mid-2014. Headley’s a career .265 hitter who averages around 15 home runs per season and 70 RBI. Headley does have Gold Glove caliber defense (winning the Gold Glove at third base in 2012).

He can also have moments of big offensive success, like he did in 2012 as well when he won the Silver Slugger Award at third base in the National League by batting .286, 31 home runs, 115 RBI. Headley also has lots of experience against the National League West, which would again come in handy if he became a Giant.
