Fantasy Football: Brees, Charles, Fitzpatrick, Green Headline Fantasy Performers In Exciting Week 3

Last week, a lot of fantasy players made impacts in the morning. And this week is no different.

C.J Spiller has done well, although he is hurt right now. A.J Green caught a 73-yard touchdown pass and has 181 yards receiving. Ryan Fitzpatrick has three touchdown passes, and Lance Moore caught one too. Rookie sensation Andrew Luck has thrown for two, while Christian Ponder also has a pair of passing touchdowns for the Vikings.

He doesn’t have incredible stats, but Ponder has been amazing. He was pressured on a fourth-and-one play, but he threw a perfect pass for a touchdown. He’s been pretty accurate and able to avoid the pressure, which is especially impressive considering that he’s squaring off against the San Francisco 49ers, owners of the best defense in the NFL. He orchestrated another beautiful drive, and he capped it off with a touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph (who has two TD receptions).

Ponder also has a rushing touchdown, as he made a nice read and ran down the middle for a 20-yard score. If that counts in your league, you’re in luck. If not, he’s still been great. Ponder is someone you should consider adding to your team as a backup. Jake Locker won’t be starting in any leagues, but he has 326 passing yards and two touchdowns as the Titans lead the Lions 34-27. Nate Washington made an incredible catch as he climbed on Jacob Lacey for a 71-yard touchdown pass. Washington has 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Cincinnati had wide receiver Mohamed Sanu at quarterback on a trick play, and Green got open deep. Green hauled in a nice pass and ran into the end zone for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage, giving the Bengals an early lead. They currently lead 14-7, and Green currently has 181 receiving yards. He’s done a great job getting open and breaking down the Redskins secondary.

Spiller caught a touchdown and has ran for 16 yards, leading the Bills as they dominate Cleveland. Fitzpatrick has been amazing, completing 9 of 12 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns. He’s definitely someone to consider adding to your fantasy team, if you haven’t added him already.

There have also been two dominant fantasy performances in the Jaguars-Colts game. Andrew Luck has thrown for two touchdowns (and an interception), while showing flashes of greatness. His poise in the pocket and accuracy is the main reason why the Colts lead the Jaguars 14-10, while Maurice Jones-Drew is the reason why the Jaguars are still in the game.

MJD broke loose for a long touchdown run in the third, and on just 23 carries, he has 173 yards and a touchdown. MJD has the second-most rushing yards of the day. Another star running back in action, Adrian Peterson, has struggled. The Niners have wrapped him up, and he hasn’t been able to break any big runs against their rock-solid run D.

A lot of people have Drew Brees in action, and he has delivered a great performance. He hit Lance Moore with a beautiful pass into the middle, and he threw another touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham in the third. He threw a third one to Jed Collins, and he now has three touchdown passes for 240 yards (although he was intercepted). New Orleans leads 24-16 over Kansas City, who received a 91-yard touchdown run from Jamaal Charles. Charles has 199 rushing yards for the Chiefs, who are looking to win their first game of the season.

RGIII doesn’t have great fantasy stats, although he did throw for a touchdown. Andy Dalton does, though. He’s been accurate and has bounced back from an early interception to throw for 328 yards and three touchdowns. Cincinnati leads Washington 38-24 as they seek to take over first place in the AFC South with a 2-1 record.

For those of you who have Jason Hanson at kicker, you’re in luck. He has made four field goals and an extra point for the Lions, who lead Locker and the Titans 27-20. Hanson made two short field goals, but he was also good from 47 and from 53 yards out.

If you want to know who hasn’t done well today, I’ll let you know. Mark Sanchez has been intercepted twice, and he has no touchdown passes. Jay Cutler has been intercepted, Josh Freeman has 39 passing yards and an interception, and Tony Romo has been picked. The only one of those four players who has thrown a touchdown is Freeman, who is still struggling mightily.

Tune into a game to follow the action and check back in for more updates.
