OTAs around the NFL have begun, and teams are seeking to establish continuity ahead of the 2025 season.
The 49ers have used free agency, the NFL draft, and the trade market to make additions to the roster. The latest acquisition was of Bryce Huff to help bolster the defensive line.
At the same time, the 49ers are being discussed by players around the NFL. New York Giants rookie RB Cam Skattebo was a guest on the "St. Brown Podcast" and expressed that he thought the 49ers were going to take him in the 2025 NFL draft. Instead of going 100th overall to San Francisco, they passed, and he went to the Giants at 105th overall.
Now that he's a member of the Giants, Skattebo said he's most excited to go against 49ers LB Fred Warner.
Cam Skattebo Wants to Play Against Fred Warner
Warner is the best linebacker in the league, so it's not a shocker that Skattebo would name him. Running backs and linebackers will frequently collide on the football field, and the rookie tailback is eyeing the All-Pro.
Skattebo is known for being a battering ram when he gets downhill, making him tough to go down at first contact. He runs with terrific power while maintaining good contact balance.
In his collegiate career, he ran for 4,386 rushing yards, 1,386 receiving yards, and 51 total touchdowns. He will be battling for RB2 with Devin Singletary.
As for Warner, he became the highest-paid LB in the league after inking a three-year, $63 million extension. The 28-year-old is a four-time Pro Bowler and First-team All-Pro. He is known for being an elite game wrecker in the middle of the field as both a run and pass defender.
Skattebo should be wise about who he names, and Warner is one of those guys. He'll get that opportunity to line up against Warner as the Giants host the 49ers in Week 9. And he may end up regretting his statement.
