There might not be a team that experienced more players leaving town than the San Francisco 49ers. Players like Aaron Banks, Dre Greenlaw, Javon Hargrave, Talanoa Hufanga, and Charvarius Ward all left town, to name a few.
The 49ers have made some low-cost signings including quarterback Mac Jones. Both sides agreed on a two-year deal that's worth up to $7 million deal. Jones will be Brock Purdy's backup going forward but some news around him has been revealed.
According to the NFL Jersey Number Twitter page, Jones will wear No. 10 with the 49ers.

Mac Jones Will Wear No. 10 for the 49ers
This shouldn't come as a surprise for fans, as Jones has worn No. 10, dating back to his high school days. From Bolles School, Alabama, Patriots, and Jaguars, Jones has always donned the same number. He made it a priority to do so again in San Francisco.
It has been a rocky four seasons in the league for Jones. Between the Patriots and Jaguars, he has gone 20-29 as the starter. He has completed 65.9% of his passes for 10,590 yards with 54 passing touchdowns and 44 interceptions. Jones hasn't been a consistent level starter and that's why he will be backup in San Francisco.
While he might not start, Jones signing with the 49ers appeared to be years in the making. During the 2021 NFL Draft, Kyle Shanahan reportedly had a serious interest in drafting Jones with the third overall pick.
They opted to draft Trey Lance instead, but that didn't work out for them either. Thankfully, they were able to find Purdy in the seventh round, who provided them with stability at the quarterback position. Everyone hopes that Purdy stays healthy, as he is the clear better of the two.
As for Jones, he's looking to learn and develop under Shanahan. And will do so wearing No. 10, like he's done at his stops playing football.
