The San Francisco 49ers have been busy this offseason but they seem to have lost more than they have brought in. This is especially true on the defensive side of the ball where Javon Hargrave, Charvarius Ward and Dre Greenlaw are some of the players that have changed addresses.

After the 49ers ranked 29th in scoring defense last season, fans want to know how they’ll turn it around next season. But the addition of former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tre Brown raised concerns after he dealt with an ankle injury last season.

Brown did his best to clear up the air after the agreement was announced by his agency, The Sports Entertainment Group, on Wednesday and made a promise to 49ers fans that next year will be different.

Brown took to social media to talk about his injuries which also included two injury-plagued campaigns that limited him to 11 games during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. While Brown admitted last year’s injury slowed him down, he promised the 49ers were “getting a good one” now that he’s in San Francisco.

“Dealt w injuries last year that slowed me down but we 100%,” Brown wrote on his X account. “9ers getting a good one I can promise you that!”

After two injury-plagued seasons to start his career, Brown broke out in 2023, posting a 62.8 overall grade while allowing 30 catches for 398 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. He also broke up five passes and recorded an interception, raising expectations for this past season. But things didn’t work out, allowing 14 catches for 215 yards and three touchdowns on 20 targets last season and the Seahawks moved on, paving Brown’s path to San Francisco.

Brown joins 2024 second-pic Renardo Green and nickelback Deommodore Lenoir in the starting lineup after arriving in San Francisco. He’ll also be joined by Darrell Luter Jr., Avery Tre and Tre Tomlinson as options with a cornerback such as Texas’s Jahdae Batton or Michigan’s Will Johnson in play to be selected with the 11th overall pick and four picks in the top 100 selections in next month’s draft.
