NFL free agency hasn’t been too friendly to the San Francisco 49ers as they’ve seen multiple players from last year’s teams sign deals elsewhere. Some of the most notable players that left San Francisco were Dre Greenlaw, Talanoa Hufanga, and Charvarius Ward.

Greenlaw and Hufanga signed three-year contracts with the Denver Broncos, while Ward signed a three-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. However, those aren’t the only defenders that left the 49ers in free agency, as another veteran defensive back got himself a multi-year deal in free agency.

On Thursday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Isaac Yiadom signed a three-year, $9 million deal with the New Orleans Saints. Yiadom’s new deal with the Saints has a max value of $10.5 million, which includes $4.86 million guaranteed.

This will be Yiadom’s second stint with the Saints, as he played in the Big Easy in 2022-23. The veteran cornerback will also be reuniting with new Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, who was in San Francisco last season and coached him in 2019.

Last season in San Francisco, the 29-year-old cornerback started in five games. Yiadom racked up 46 combined tackles, six pass deflections, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception.

The veteran defender played 46 percent of defensive and 56 percent of special teams snaps. When he got on the field, Yiadom did not waste his opportunity.

He had a 58.5 completion percentage allowed on targets, an 88.7 pass rating allowed when targeted, and only gave two receiving touchdowns.

With Yiadom heading to the Big Easy, the Niners need to find more cornerback depth in free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft. Luckily for San Fran's brass, we're still in the early part of the offseason, so they have time to find guys.
