The San Francisco 49ers made significant changes to their roster this offseason, letting several key contributors walk in free agency while replacing them with rookies and players on team-friendly contracts. Few teams in the NFL revamped their depth chart as radically as the 49ers. Considering how disappointing the 2024 campaign was for the team, perhaps that was understandable.

The additions may not be over just yet, either. There are still free agents available on the market, and new players hit the market on a regular basis. On Wednesday, a surprise wide receiver was released and one former 49er thinks he would be "a perfect fit" in San Francisco.

Jon Feliciano Endorses WR Gabe Davis as a 49ers Signing

The Jacksonville Jaguars released wide receiver Gabe Davis only a year after signing him to a three-year, $39 million deal. The former Bills playmaker suffered a torn meniscus in November, ending his season prematurely.

Former 49ers offensive lineman Jon Feliciano took to social media after the surprise cut and gave his stamp of approval for San Francisco to sign him.

Feliciano knows Davis' game as well as anybody, having played with him in Buffalo for two seasons. Davis was an excellent deep threat with the Bills, averaging 16.7 yards per reception in his four seasons there. He finished his Bills tenure with 2,730 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns in 64 games.

While Davis' status for the start of next season is uncertain, he could be a fascinating flyer on a one-year deal for the 49ers.

As a player, Feliciano had his best season in his career with the 49ers, playing a huge role as a starting guard in San Francisco's run to the Super Bowl. His injuries that caused him to miss the entirety of last season eventually forced him into retirement, but he could still be doing the 49ers one last favor with the Gabe Davis tip.
