Ever since Kyle Shanahan became the San Francisco 49ers' head coach in 2017, they have possessed one of the better running games in the NFL. Though it's seen the most success over the past three years with Christian McCaffery, the 49ers' run game has seen other success stories.
This includes Raheem Mostert, who was an undrafted free agent in 2015 and broke out with San Francisco in 2019. That said, not all running backs that came through San Francisco saw the same success. That was the case for 2020 undrafted free agent JaMycal Hasty.
While Hasty did see the field with the 49ers, he was unable to show enough to stay with the team. Currently, the 28-year-old remains unsigned heading into the start of NFL training camps.

During his two seasons in San Francisco, Hasty recorded 55 carries for 216 yards and two touchdowns. Moreover, he added 30 receptions for 190 yards and returned 12 kickoffs for 202 yards.
FurthermoreDespite that being decent production for most undrafted players, given how Shanahan has helped develop other undrafted running backs, it was disappointing. Furthermore, Hasty's competition got more difficult in 2022 when Jordan Mason and Elijah Mitchell joined the room, resulting in him being cut.
Following his departure from San Francisco, Hasty joined the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2023 season and five games of the 2024 season. In Jacksonville, he rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns. The 28-year-old also added 20 receptions for 126 yards.
After being cut by the Jaguars on November 11, 2023, the 28-year-old signed with the New England Patriots. As a Patriot, he recorded 20 carries for 69 yards and 10 receptions for 59 yards.
Since Hasty has proven he can contribute in every way possible, there's no reason he shouldn't at least be invited to someone's training camp. Who knows, maybe San Francisco even reaches out at some point after their struggles in the return game last season.
