With training camp beginning across the NFL this week, many teams will start the process of making changes to their 90-man rosters.

From now until the end of August, NFL teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, will be on the search for the best players to fill their 53-man rosters. For some guys, they will make the team out of camp, while others will begin their journeys on the practice squad.

At the same time, there will be other players who will be cut before the roster deadline and hope to latch on with another team. This is the situation that one former 49ers draft pick is in before the action gets underway.

Ex-49ers RB Tyrion Davis-Price Gets Shown the Door by Tennessee Titans

On Thursday, Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com reported that former San Francisco running back Tyrion Davis-Price was waived after the Titans signed running back Jordan Mims.

The ex-49ers running back just signed a one-year deal with the Titans at the beginning of June after the Philadelphia Eagles released him in May. Davis-Price has struggled to find his footing in the NFL since being taken in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old running back appeared in six games in his rookie season with the 49ers. The former LSU standout didn’t do much on the ground, recording 99 yards on 34 carries.

Davis-Price didn’t do much in his second year with the club as he only played in one game. In that game, the 6-foot-1, 219-pound running back had 21 rushing yards on six carries. San Fran shockingly cut ties with the young running back in December of the 2023 season.

However, the 49ers re-signed Davis-Price a couple of days later to the taxi squad. The 49ers did not give him a futures deal at the end of the 2023 season, leading him to the Eagles.

The Eagles signed the ex-49ers running back to a futures/reserve deal in February 2024, but he didn’t make the 53-man roster out of camp and was signed to the practice squad.

Davis-Price made his 2024 debut in Philadelphia’s Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys, where he had seven yards on three carries.

While you never want to see a player get cut, the former 49ers running back should have time to join a new squad in the coming weeks.
