Re-signing veteran tight end George Kittle to a four-year, $76 million extension wasn't the only move made by the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday to help bolster their roster for the 2025 campaign.
Tuesday evening, the Niners reportedly came to terms on a contract with free agent offensive tackle D.J. Humphries. John Lynch and the rest of San Francisco's front office continue to build an offense around franchise quarterback Brock Purdy.
Humphries' representation announced the deal had been agreed upon via their X account.

Adding a player of his caliber to an offensive line group that already includes Trent Williams and Colton McKivitz only solidifies San Francisco's talent in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball. Humphries most likely fits in with San Francisco as a depth piece that can be used at either tackle position. Humphries' best season came in 2021 when he was named to his only Pro Bowl squad.
As his representation noted in the message announcing the deal, the former University of Florida Gators standout is healthy again and ready to get back to work. Humphries suffered a torn ACL in late December of 2023 and only managed to appear in a couple of games for the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2024 campaign after signing with the AFC champions in late November of 2024.
If the offensive lineman is, in fact, healthy again, this could be a steal of an addition for the Niners. San Francisco will be the third team that the 31-year-old suits up for as an NFL player.
In addition to the aforementioned stint in Kansas City, Humphries spent the first nine years of his professional career as a member of the Arizona Cardinals' offensive line after the franchise selected him with the No. 24 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
