Fans around the NFL have been constantly refreshing their news feeds over the past two days. The legal tampering period officially opened up on Monday, and there was a ton of movement around the league.

San Francisco lost, released, or traded a ton of starters this offseason. One major area that needed some improvements was at receiver. They shipped Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders and have Brandon Aiyuk rehabbing from a torn ACL.

On Tuesday, the 49ers added a playmaker who played for a division rival. According to Ian Rapoport, San Francisco and WR Demarcus Robinson agreed to terms on a two-year, $9.5 million deal that includes $6 million in fully guaranteed money.

Robinson is coming over from the Los Angeles Rams, where he played for two seasons (2022-2023). The Florida product is a sure-handed pass-catcher who can stretch the field. In his nine-year career, Robinson has had stops with the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Rams. He was productive in all three locations.

Across 147 career games, he has notched 250 receptions (405 targets) for 3,013 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns. Over the last two seasons with Los Angeles, Robinson has averaged north of 14 yards per reception, highlighting his ability to make plays downfield.

An underrated part of his game is his availability. The 2016 fourth-round pick has suited up in at least 16 games in every season. That's something that will come in handy for a 49ers team that saw Aiyuk, Ricky Pearsall, and Jauan Jennings miss time in 2024.

Robinson can step in and be a productive WR3 for this team. Although they still need to add more talent to that room, this is the type of acquisition that is low-risk, high-reward. He's coming off career-highs in receiving yards (505) and receiving yards (7).
