The San Francisco 49ers had their first day of OTAs start on Tuesday. They will have several practices running from May 27 to June 5.

This will give all players on the roster a chance to get off on the right foot before mandatory minicamp and training camp start.

Fans are excited to see some new players in the building, especially 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams.

He was recently interviewed by Kay Adams and was asked who will get more sacks in the Week 7 contest against the Atlanta Falcons, him or Jalon Walker.

Williams laughed and responded, "I like my chances.”

Mykel Williams Believes He’ll Get More Sacks Than Jalon Walker in Week 7

Williams and Walker were teammates at the University of Georgia from 2022 to 2024. Those two guys grew a close bond during their time together, but they will be foes at the NFL level. Even though we are four months away from the start of the season, Williams already thinks he'll outperform his former teammate when the 49ers host the Falcons.

Over three seasons at Georgia, Williams had 67 total tackles, 23 TFLs, and 14 sacks. Meanwhile, Walker had 89 total stops, 19 TFLs, and 12.5 sacks.

Both guys are expected to play significant roles in their rookie seasons. Williams already has some bragging rights over Walker since he was the 11th overall pick. Meanwhile, Walker went 15th overall to the Falcons.

That's just a small portion of the equation, and now it's all translating the action onto the football field. Williams will need to have a good summer so he can hit the ground running in September. He's stout against the run with outstanding power to push back offensive linemen.

That's why the 49ers decided to make him the 11th pick, and he's already looking forward to outmatching his former teammate.
