One of the bigger topics of discussion this offseason for the San Francisco 49ers will be what type of contract Brock Purdy will get. The former seventh-round pick won’t become a free agent until 2026 but is entering the final year of his rookie deal.
Therefore, it makes sense for the 49ers to get something done with Purdy if they believe he’s their long-term solution at quarterback.
One has to believe that GM John Lynch and owner Jed York want to get something done sooner rather than later. Speaking of York, he provided an intriguing update regarding Purdy’s future over Super Bowl Weekend.
#49ers owner Jed York said he saw Brock Purdy’s agent this week: “I know we want Brock here for a long, long time and I believe we will make that work.”

According to Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, York saw Purdy’s agent during Super Bowl week and mentioned how he wants the young quarterback to be in San Francisco for the foreseeable future.
“I know we want Brock here for a long, long time and I believe we will make that work,” York said.
Late last month, Tim Kawakami of The San Francisco Standard reported that there shouldn’t be fireworks between Purdy and the 49ers in contract negotiations.
Also: There are indications that Purdy and the 49ers both are feeling there won't be fireworks leading up to a long-term deal, but I'm hearing the framework might be a little different than recent big QB agreements. Which could take some time to hash out. https://t.co/sRzWIg0ryY

Spotrac projects Purdy’s calculated market value at a four-year, $238.9 million deal, with a $59.7M average annual salary.
This projection is almost in line with what ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported two days ago. Some people have pointed out that Purdy has a case to be paid at least $55 million, which is on par with Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence.
If you are a Niners fan, you have to be pleased with how things have been playing out with Purdy. As a former seventh-round pick, Purdy has exceeded all expectations and has San Francisco as a perennial contender in the NFC.
Over his three-year career, Purdy has completed 67.5 percent of his passes for 9,518 yards, 64 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. He's led the 49ers to two NFC title game appearances and a Super Bowl appearance. Purdy was also named to his first Pro Bowl in 2023.
This season was a down year for the 49ers due to injury. But if the Niners can get healthy, San Francisco can be back in the Super Bowl conversation with Purdy leading the way.
