49ers' Owner Was at Center of Drama During NFL Rule Change Meeting

To the dismay of the team's rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles have managed to hold off the ban hammer and keep the Tush Push as a legal move. It wasn't without push back, including from San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York, who was one of the ten votes for voting to ban the Tush Push.

On the surface, the Tush Push seems like it should be legal, as players get pushed forward all the time in the natural run of play. That is likely part of the argument Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie used during the owners' meeting.

The discussion on the topic didn't end without drama though, with York being at the center of it.

49ers Owner Jed York Called Out Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie During Rule Change Votes

After over an hour of defending the Tush Push, York responded by asking Lurie, "How much more s---" he had to say on the matter. Considering the laughs it produced, other owners probably shared his sentiment. At the very least, nine other owners seemed to share his viewpoint on the matter.

The Tush Push has been a widely discussed matter of this year's NFL offseason, especially after the Eagles won the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs in dominant fashion. Interestingly, the main teams that seem to be pushing against it are the teams that are direct rivals of the Eagles.

The Packers were the original team to propose the ban, who lost to the Eagles 22-10 in a first-round matchup.

The 49ers are also direct competition to the Eagles, who likely expect to return to the top of the NFC to try and take down the Eagles with better health this season.

With the ban being rejected, it will be interesting to see if the Eagles' use of the play changes at all this coming season. They could decide to double down on it and abuse it even more now that teams have officially accepted it as legal.

The 49ers are lucky and don't have to deal with it during the regular season, but that could actually be a detriment, given they won't have as much practice defending it if the two teams face off in the playoffs.

How the Tush Push impacts this coming season will be a fascinating storyline to follow for all NFL fans.
