The San Francisco 49ers didn't experience the success they envisioned this past season. After going 6-11 and missing out on the playoffs, the 49ers need to make some moves.

With Super Bowl Sunday on the horizon, 30 other teams in the league have begun making some plans for the 2025 season.

Players will be swapping jerseys and the rumors have started swirling. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote an article discussing buzz he's hearing around coaches, the draft, and free agency.

Fowler revealed that New York Jets receiver Davante Adams is "intrigued by a return to the West Coast" and the 49ers were listed as a possible landing spot if the Jets release him.

Fowler wrote, "A source told me Adams is intrigued by a return to the West Coast and would be open to potentially joining teams such as the Rams or Chargers -- if he gets released. I would put the 49ers in the conversation, too. Adams grew up in Northern California."

49ers Rumors: Davante Adams is Open to Joining the 49ers

Aaron Rodgers' future with the Jets is very cloudy at the moment. He was the reason that Adams wanted to join the Jets, but if the signal-caller isn't under center for New York in 2025, Adams would be following him out the door.

The fact that Adams would be open to signing with the 49ers is the exact type of news fans want to hear.

The 32-year-old is still a talented No. 1 WR in this league. Over 14 games between the Jets and Las Vegas Raiders, Adams finished 85 receptions for 1,063 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns. In his career, Adams has notched three First-Team All-Pro nods and six Pro Bowl trips.

He can still produce at a high level and would give the 49ers a dominant weapon on the outside. Adams was born and raised in East Palo Alto, CA. He went to Palo Alto high school and played his college ball at Fresno State.

Back in 2022 when Adams was traded to the Raiders, he expressed how important it is for him to play next to family.

“(Playing near family) really matters to me,”Adams told Las Vegas Sun's Case Keefer in March 2022.

If he ends up getting released by New York, the 49ers could end up being a landing spot for him. The 49ers know their Super Bowl window is closing, so the potential addition of a guy like Adams is something that will pump up San Francisco fans.

Some hurdles need to be cleared before this becomes a real possibility, but Adams has an interest in the 49ers.
