The San Francisco 49ers will continue their trek through the preseason this weekend when they take their show on the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
While it doesn't sound like fans will see all of the regular starters who are healthy and able to play on Saturday at Allegiant Stadium, one of the franchise's cornerstones will be in uniform and expected to take the field against the Raiders.
According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, Kyle Shanahan expects starting quarterback Brock Purdy to make his preseason debut on Saturday after the Pro Bowler sat out the Niners' loss to the Denver Broncos last weekend.

49ers Announce Brock Purdy Is Expected to Play in 2nd Preseason Game
While Shanahan did not go into detail about just how much playing time Purdy will receive, the fact that he is taking the field at all in Week 2 of the preseason is noteworthy. After the struggles the offense had against Denver, having Purdy take the field, even for a limited number of series, should only help things operate more smoothly when San Francisco has the ball.
Second-string quarterback Mac Jones got the start in San Francisco's 30-9 loss to the Broncos at Levi's Stadium and had a relatively average, if not poor, performance. The former first-round pick by the New England Patriots completed 4/7 attempts for a team-best 74 passing yards and one interception.
In total, it was a poor day from all three quarterbacks who got into the game as Jones, Tanner Mordecai, and Carter Bryant combined to go 13/27 for just 107 passing yards and three total interceptions. This ultimately led to the front office releasing Mordecai just two days after that preseason loss to Denver.
These issues shouldn't be as prominent once the regular season kicks off and Purdy is back running the show on a full-time basis. Given that the backup quarterback is always one play away from being the man calling the shots in the huddle, though, it would be nice to see the production from the signal callers behind Purdy improve.
We'll see how things go this weekend when Purdy, as well as the rest of the quarterbacks on the roster, square off against Las Vegas.
