The wide receiver room for the San Francisco 49ers could double as an infirmary these days, and it would be tough to tell the difference with the number of players in that area of the roster currently dealing with injuries.

John Lynch and the front office knew the wide receiver room would be an issue to start the season until Brandon Aiyuk could return from injury. Unfortunately, fans in the Bay Area have only seen more wideouts bitten by the injury bug since then, as Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing are nicked up as well.

This is one of the reasons why Lynch and the front office made a trade for former Kansas City Chiefs draft bust Skyy Moore, as they were able to bring in a recent second-round pick to see if a change of scenery was all he needed to turn his career around.

Through three games, Moore has done very little to justify giving up a future sixth-round pick for his services this season, as he has one reception on just one target for 10 yards, along with a fumble, which he recovered, during a special teams return.

It was a lack of production that ultimately ended Moore's tenure with the Chiefs, and, unfortunately, the start of his time with the Niners is looking eerily similar. While Moore has served on both the punt and kick return units since arriving in San Francisco, there is no doubt the Niners were hoping for more out of the former Western Michigan standout than he's provided thus far.

After seeing just five total snaps on offense over the opening two weeks of the 2025 campaign, Moore was on the field for 34 offensive snaps this past Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Despite those additional opportunities to be on the field, Mac Jones only looked in Moore's direction one time. That simply isn't good enough for any player, let alone one whom you gave up future draft capital to acquire.

With Aiyuk reportedly having a chance to return to the field as soon as Week 6, Moore is running out of time to prove that he can be more to San Francisco's roster than just a return specialist.
