Tanner Muse, LB, Raiders

Tanner Muse played a big part in Clemson’s defense in their runs to the past two NCAA title games. His speed (4.41), tenacity, and ability to play both safety and linebacker are what made him such an intriguing prospect for Mike Mayock and company.

Unfortunately, Muse had a rough camp according to reports. At the tail end of camp, Muse also suffered a toe injury, landing him on injured reserve.

When Muse ultimately returns to the active roster, expect him to contribute on special teams as he continues his transition to linebacker.

Amik Robertson, CB, Raiders

Adding more depth to the secondary is fourth-round cornerback Amik Robertson. Seeing as the Raiders’ pass defense ranked 24th a year ago, it was no surprise that general manager Mike Mayock wanted to shore that up.

Although Robertson did not see the field in Week 1, despite being active, he impressed in training camp.

While his size (5-foot-8) makes him ideal as a nickel corner, his ball skills and route anticipation are tremendous and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him get some opportunities on the outside.

John Simpson, OG, Raiders

Rounding out the 2020 rookie class was another pick from Mayock’s favorite school in guard John Simpson. Currently slotted as Richie Incognito’s backup at left guard, Simpson was a healthy scratch in week 1.

With Andre James and Week 1 hero Denzelle Good capable of filling in at multiple positions along the offensive line, you shouldn’t expect to see much of Simpson this season barring injury.
