4. Tom Brady, no problem for the New England Patriots as they take on the 49ers in Week 7

When the 2020 opponents were announced last season, the 49ers were supposed to take on quarterback Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Never in a million years did anyone think Brady would head down south to Tampa Bay and leave the dynasty.

Well, 2020 has been weird so may as well get even weirder.

The Patriots then went on to sign former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. So within a span of a few months, 49ers fans thought they’d see Tom Brady again, then thought they’d see a rookie Patriots quarterback only to end up with Newton going head-to-head with Garopoolo.

This Week 7 matchup starts a tough stretch in the Niners schedule. Despite not having Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots aren’t going to be a team the 49ers can overlook.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, players have the option of sitting out the 2020 season. Eight Patriots have utilized the opt-out.

There’s a reason this game will be important for the 49ers and its because it can be a trap game if the team isn’t careful.
