Cal Football: Golden Bears land local three-star OT Ryan Lange

The Cal football program added three-star offensive tackle Ryan Lange to their 2021 class.
The Cal football program continued to bolster their 2021 recruiting class with the addition of three-star offensive tackle Ryan Lange on Saturday.
A local product out of Pittsburg, California, Lange is the latest addition to a class that’s become offensive-line-heavy over the last month. This marks the third offensive line recruit that Cal has landed in the past 10 days.
Back on July 15th, the Bears received a commitment from Washington offensive lineman William Reed. Just five days later, fellow Washington native Dylan Jemtegaard announced his commitment to Cal as well.
Now, Lange makes it a trio in what has been a huge month for Cal offensive line coach Angus McClure. McClure actually originally recruited Lange while he was at Nevada and continued that recruitment upon his arrival in Berkeley.
Lange ended up choosing Cal over offers from a myriad of schools including USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Washington State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Hawaii, San Diego State, San Jose State, and UNLV.
However, his commitment to Cal is hardly a surprise to anyone.
Ryan Lange’s relationship with the Cal football program dates back years.
Lange’s relationship with the university dates back a few years with the high-school standout attending camp at Memorial Stadium in each of the last two summers.
He had the following to say about his relationship with the Cal football program.
"“I’ve been to quite a few (Cal) games. I went to two games this past season against Oregon State and USC. Before that, I went to a couple of games as well.Besides being close, I’ve been going to their camps two years in a row my freshman and sophomore years. I’ve been in contact with all their coaches and I’ve been to the recruits’ barbecue, so I’ve been around Cal a lot.”"
Moreover, one of Lange’s good friends is fellow Cal commit Akili Calhoun and the young lineman was even trained by former Bears and NFL center, Erik Robertson.
The connection with Cal was obvious so it isn’t exactly much of a surprise that he ended up committing to the program.
With Lange’s commitment, five of Cal’s six California recruits are from Northern California. That includes three of the Bay Area’s top recruits including Lange, the aforementioned Calhoun, and Richmond native, tight end Jermaine Terry.
Cal’s recruiting class continues to take shape with the school now having 13 official recruits for 2021. And with Lange now added to the class, the program now has four offensive line commits — more than any other position.
Here’s to hoping that Ryan Lange has a very successful career with the Cal football program.
