San Jose Sharks: 3 positive takeaways from last season
3. The San Jose Sharks’ trade of Barclay Goodrow
Barclay Goodrow will forever go down as a fan favorite after his iconic overtime series-winning goal capping off a three-one comeback against the Vegas Golden Knights.
However, trading the cult-classic fourth-liner was one of the best trades by Doug Wilson in a long time — acquiring a first-round pick from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the upcoming 2020 NHL Draft.
Between trading for both Erik Karlsson and Evander Kane, first-round selections for the Sharks have been few and far between.
Doug Wilson historically drafts exceptionally well late in the first round, and he will have the opportunity to do so in the upcoming draft. This move is especially critical as the league looks ahead to one of the deepest drafts since 2015.
Fans should be confident that this pick will turn into a prominent role-player within the next few years.
All in all, contrary to popular belief, the future for the Sharks is very much bright moving forward.
