Round 3 Target: Devin Duvernay, Texas

Round 3 is where we could see a whole heck of a lot of second-tier receivers go. It’s also one of the toughest rounds to make judgement calls. One of the guys whom several outlets are split on is Devin Duvernay out of Texas.

He’s four inches shorter than Lamb, but possesses a similar skillset and playing style. It’s not at the level of Lamb’s obviously, but snagging Duvernay in the third would be a strong pick for Las Vegas.

Duvernay, like Lamb. plays his best with the ball in his hands. He is another aggressive, play-making machine. Last season, he actually led the country in receptions with 106. Duvernay finished the year with 1,386 yards receiving and found the end zone nine times.

Three main characteristics stick out about Duvernay. First of all, he’s fast. That’s undeniable. His 4.39 speed is like lightning on the field. Second, he is a tough, durable kid.

Being used as much as he was a year ago and absorbing so many snaps, Duvernay handled it like a pro. He is accustomed to having the game on his shoulders, and his body holds up.

Last, Duvernay is a mad man after the catch. I love this line in Lance Zierlein’s draft profile from NFL.com.

"“Runs like he hates humanity as he blasts through tacklers.”"

It’s true. Duvernay is a tough son of a gun and, well, doesn’t like to be tackled.
