Round 1, Pick 13: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama

Seeing Emmanuel Sanders leave via free agency doesn’t necessarily mean the offense takes a step back, especially if you can plug in the best wide receiver in this year’s draft class.

Yep, I said it. Jerry Jeudy is hands-down the best wideout in this class and has been for quite some time. Leading up to the draft, now, you’ve seen plenty of people higher on CeeDee Lamb or Henry Ruggs, and even Denzel Mims has risen.

But, Jeudy remains the No. 1 in my book.

The 49ers already have a phenomenal possession receiver in Deebo Samuel, who is a monster after the catch. Now, they need a guy like Jeudy who can line up outside and become their WR1.

Jeudy is the complete package. He has top-end speed, as evidenced by his 4.45 time in the 40-yard dash. He’s an all-around athlete, possessing a solid vertical and elite footwork. Speaking of footwork, Jeudy is the best route-runner in this year’s class, also.

The 49ers have an opportunity to add a stud on the outside and elevate the offense even further, allowing attention to be drawn away from Samuel as well as giving the run game a boost in return.
