49ers 7-Round Mock Draft: Niners land a top receiver and pass rusher
By Allen Settle
The San Francisco 49ers are under two weeks away from the start of the 2020 NFL Draft. With the clock ticking down, we put together a complete seven-round mock draft.
The San Francisco 49ers‘ 2019 season proved one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt — the team has one of the most complete rosters in the NFL.
The 49ers were able to ride an excellent defense and a young, dynamic, offense all the way to the franchise’s first Super Bowl berth since 2012.
As the team seeks to return to the postseason for another serious run at a title, they currently have a number of different positions that must be addressed. Thankfully, the team’s two first-round selections (picks 12 and 31 overall) will give them a tremendous boost.
However, the Niners have the tricky task of navigating an extremely top-heavy draft. Their lack of picks in the second, third, or fourth-round means the team must capitalize on their top selections, while also efficiency identifying talent in the latter portion.
The franchise’s most pressing needs appear to be at wide receiver, defensive tackle, and cornerback. They would also benefit from additional depth on the offensive line and at the pass-rushing positions.
The following is a mock draft with the best possible selections for each of the 49ers’ 2020 draft picks. (Note: Version 1.0 of my Niners mock draft can be assessed here.)
