The San Jose Sharks have had numerous players wear their sweaters over the years. Some you know everything about and others you don’t. Let’s bring back some former Sharks who did in fact, play for the team.

The San Jose Sharks have had over 280 players rock their jersey over the years. For a franchise that started in 1991, it’s an impressive list.

All the players helped create the culture and fandom we see today. They also helped the organization make numerous playoff runs and even get their shot at the Stanley Cup in 2016.

Some of the most memorable names are the likes of Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski, Scott Hannan, and Rob Blake. Thornton is still with the franchise and is still fully committed to bringing Lord Stanley to the Bay Area.

Marleau, who was traded just before the 2020 NHL trade deadline after a brief return, Hannan, and Blake all donned the teal and black. Hannan and Blake were forces to be reckoned with, while Marleau was the heart and soul of the team — a true fan favorite.

But what truly makes a team special are the players you didn’t know played for your favorite team. You don’t forget about them in the hockey world because they move on to another team and succeed.

But you forget a stop in San Jose played a part in the development of their careers.

Let’s take a look back at a few guys who used San Jose as either a stepping stone, another stop on a Hall of Fame career, or just didn’t quite fit with the team.
