No. 13 — San Francisco 49ers
Speaking of drafting a quarterback…
But hear me out.
Kyle Shanahan is the ultimate quarterback guru. Look at how Matt Ryan performed with him compared to without him. Or how far he was able to go with a good (but not great) player like Jimmy Garoppolo. So why build a roster around a massively expensive quarterback?
If Shanahan’s offensive genius can help most signal-callers excel, why not invest in a top prospect with a rookie contract? Imagine what Shanahan could do with a young player to mold. Imagine the roster they could build without Garoppolo’s contract on the books.
Jordan Love’s combination of arm talent and rushing ability would be dynamic in the Niners’ offense. There’s also a team in New England that may be willing to pay for Garoppolo. In fact, we hear that the franchise happens to be pretty fond of him.
This is the 49ers’ best possible move for the long term. But it is admittedly a major stretch.
