The San Francisco 49ers made a flurry of roster moves today. We take a look and break down each individual move and analyze the impact of each of them.

The San Francisco 49ers were expected to have a relatively quiet offseason with very little cap space and few draft picks. However, that notion came crashing down on the first day of the legal tampering period.

The 49ers started the day by re-signing Arik Armstead to a massive five-year, $85 million extension. It was a monster financial commitment for a team that didn’t have much flexibility, to begin with.

But the Armstead signing was only the beginning of what turned out to be a very eventful day.

Not too long after re-signing Armstead, the 49ers agreed to send superstar defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

It was a bold move that makes sense, but it’s certainly been difficult for fans to come to terms with. The 49ers capped off the day by re-signing safety Jimmie Ward.

But if Monday was the initial day of splash moves, Tuesday was the roster clean-up day.

The 49ers made a sequence of minor transactions that may not be as noteworthy, but are still important. Let’s take a look at each move and analyze its impact.
