Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is once again the center of more trade rumors with reports indicating that he’s ‘being heavily shopped’ at the NFL Combine.

Derek Carr continues to be at the forefront of trade talks this offseason and the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback’s future is very much uncertain.

Rumors have been swirling for months that the Raiders could look to move on from Carr in the offseason. In fact, many of these rumors date back to last offseason when there was talk that the team could target a quarterback in the 2019 NFL Draft.

To his credit, Carr performed admirably in 2019, but that hasn’t stopped the Raiders from looking for an upgrade.

NFL insider Benjamin Allbright reported on Wednesday that Carr is “being heavily shopped” at this week’s NFL Combine. And while the Raiders haven’t directly come out and said that they’re looking to move on from Carr, they haven’t exactly denied it either.

General manager Mike Mayock had the following to say when asked about Carr and the quarterback position at the Combine.

"“Derek played at a high level last season. I’m very happy with Derek. But as I’ve said before, we will evaluate every position on our roster and if there’s a chance to upgrade, we will look into that.”"

If the Raiders were set on Derek Carr as their quarterback, they’d leave no doubt about that fact and come out and say that he’s their quarterback.

Even the Detroit Lions who have been rumored to be shopping quarterback Matthew Stafford put an end to any thoughts that he could be on the trade block. Even if they are looking to trade him, they don’t want that information to be public.

The Raiders haven’t taken that approach which would seem to indicate that they are more than prepared to move on from Carr. The path they could take to find his replacement is still unknown, however.

Las Vegas has met with five quarterbacks so far at the Combine, per head coach Jon Gruden. One of those players is confirmed to be Georgia signal-caller Jake Fromm who is expected to be a late-Day 1 or Day 2 draft pick.

Others who could be available when the team selects are players like Jacob Eason, Jordan Love, and Jalen Hurts. Of the three, Eason and Love have both received first-round talks.

If not through the draft, the Raiders have also been connected to a couple of free-agent options. Of course, the most notable of which is Tom Brady who seems more and more likely to test free agency.

Whether he actually departs New England is a different story, but it’s clear that he’s weighing his options.

Apart from Brady, another player who has been linked to the Raiders is Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The Titans could still look to re-sign Tannehill who is coming off a career year, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see him walk.

Especially if Brady ends up signing with the Titans as other rumors have suggested.

There are plenty of options if the Raiders want to move on from Carr, they’ll just need to find the right trade partner. Perhaps a team like the Chicago Bears could have interest.

If the Raiders wanted to keep Derek Carr, they would have made that clear. At this point, it seems like they have one foot out the door.
